“Being HIV positive doesn’t stop me from having a satisfying sex life”

Research shows 31% of women have avoided or delayed accessing healthcare for fear of discrimination. Half said they haven’t had mental health support since being diagnosed. Only 33% are satisfied with their sex lives, reporting issues with intimacy, fear of sexual relations, and low libido. Despite this, many women said their lives had improved since being diagnosed. “Our research found a real shared strength and resilience among women living with HIV,” says Debbie Laycock, head of policy and involvement at Terrence Higgins Trust.
