{"id":70016,"date":"2025-01-07T08:24:58","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T08:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/positivelysharing.org\/blog\/?p=70016"},"modified":"2025-01-07T13:24:01","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T13:24:01","slug":"70016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/positivelysharing.org\/blog\/2025\/01\/07\/70016\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibadan Stampede: Oriyomi Hamzat, Queen Silekunola, Others Must Face Judicial Process, Oyo Governor Insists"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/saharareporters.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/focal_point_325x195\/public\/2025-01\/IMG_9784_0.jpeg?h=3b1df545&amp;itok=SgGu268c\" alt=\"Hamzat\" width=\"413\" height=\"248\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has vowed that the organisers of the children\u2019s funfair, which led to the untimely death of 35 children in a stampede on December 18, 2024, at the Islamic High School in Ibadan, will face trial.<\/p>\n<p>The governor made this known during the annual interfaith service to herald the year 2025, held at the car park of the Governor\u2019s Office Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers of the fair, which include an ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi; the owner of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat; and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Fasasi Abdullahi Babatunde, are <a href=\"https:\/\/tribuneonlineng.com\/ibadan-stampede-court-remands-queen-naomi-oriyomi-hamzat-others-to-agodi-correctional-centre\/\">remanded at the Agodi Custodial Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde further stressed that he has been receiving calls from different people questioning why the organisers should not be released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c35 innocent souls were lost; we won\u2019t see such again in Oyo State by God\u2019s grace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuite a number of people reached out to me, saying that this happened in Anambra and FCT and nobody went to jail. Why is it that in Oyo State, some people will go to jail? Oyo is not Anambra, and no matter how highly placed, justice must be done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judiciary is here, after all; it\u2019s in their court.
