What shall I give Him?

Thinking of what to give Him this Christmas?  The wise men brought the Christ-child gold, frankincense, and myrrh; Katherine Davis boy gave his musical talent by playing his best for Him on his drum while Christina Rossetti, in her popular Christmas carol, gave her heart.

He is not lying in a manger where you can visit with material gifts and does not need gold, frankincense, or myrrh. So, what can you give?

You may have given Him your heart, but do you trust Him with ALL your heart (Proverbs 3:5), love Him with ALL your heart, soul and mind and strength (Mark 12:30) and seek Him with ALL your heart (Jer 29:13)? Do you give Him thanks with ALL your heart (Ps 138:1), keep His law with ALL your heart (Ps 119:34) and work at whatever you do with ALL your heart (Colossians 3:23)?

Why not  “gift” yourself completely to the complete Gift that offers eternal life, by making the personal commitment to live a life fully surrendered to Him?

Or would you rather we asked you this question: what shall I give up for Jesus who sacrificed everything for me? There must be sacrifices to make to fully follow Him, gains to consider loss for His sake (Philippians 3:7)?  Can you think of any?

Your gift could be the decision to get rid of those idols that are keeping you from enjoying His precious promises to the fullest.

Merry Christmas!!!!
